Dear Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Siblings, and the whole Family:
As I get older, and realize that I am becoming an "ancestor" I feel like I want to know more about my own ancestors - about Grandpop and Grandmom, about whether Aunt Rita was a feisty little kid or how Aunt Mary met Patrick Caesar. I want my kids to know about their Russo roots, the beautiful, crazy, amazing family that we come from.
Here's my idea: if you provide the material, I'll write the book. I would love stories from your own childhood - what you remember or what you've been told; Could you interview your parents about growing up a Russo? I wish my Mom were still here because now I have a lot of questions and curiosity. Maybe the Aunts and Uncles can help fill in the gaps.
You can just post your comments or stories in any one of the posts below (I'll keep them "hidden" so the book is a surprise) or e-mail me whatever you want at phylliscoletta@aol.com. If you have photos to share please scan and e-mail them or mail them to me at PO Box 880111 Steamboat Springs, CO 80488 and I'll be sure and get them back to you.
My goal is to have a book available on the internet so you can get it for yourselves or your kids for Christmas. Can you send this blog onto your brothers and sisters or cousins you know? Can you sit with your parents and talk about their history? I think sometimes we spend too much time watching TV when The Russos is probably the greatest reality show ever. Let's write the story.
Call me with questions (970-846-4945), e-mail me (phylliscoletta@blogspot.com) or just start thinking about what you'd love to know or share. Thanks to all you beautiful people.
Love,
Phyllis

Grandpop Joseph and Grandmom Marie Russo
When and where were they born?
Where did they meet?
When did they come to the US?
What was life like for them here?
What kind of work did they do?
What made Grandpop smile big?
What did Grandmom love most?
Tell me any little story, any habit or pleasure they had, what made them happy, what was their grief?

Uncle Dom and Aunt Mary J
What a loving couple and loving family.... but still, where were they born? How did they meet? What was life like for Uncle Dom growing up? Tell me about the kids... what did the family do together? What's your memory of them?
Aunt Phyl and Uncle Dom
Their story is written in my heart, but there's so much I don't know and they're not here! Help me out here.... what do you remember about my parents?

Aunt Mary and Uncle Pat
Use the comment space below (or e-mail me at phylliscoletta@aol.com) to tell me anything you want to - anything you remember - about these beautiful folks.
It can be funny, heartbreaking, mundane, sweet - they were wonderful people and some kind of characters!
